Meet 65 years old Rajitra Ram, a veteran farmer and a father to three sons. Rajitra belongs to Risalpur region of Balrampur (UP) where he grows sugar canes, wheat and barley and makes his own living. He has been suffering from cataract in the left eye with his right eye operated upon a few years ago. Rajitra is poor and cannot bear the
expenses for cataract surgery. The untreated cataract has been so severe that he is now partially blind. As a result, Rajitra does not venture out during the daylight since the bright light becomes unbearable. He stays in the shade or at home from 10am to 4pm.
Rajitra was informed about our charitable eye camp where his vision was tested and proper medicines were prescribed. Delay in treatment and lack of money had hit his family in a negative way and as a result his earnings prove to be just enough to sustain a normal life for himself and his family members. However, age is now catching up and beating all odds is becoming a daunting challenge for Rajitra.
