Srimati Shyam Kumari is a native of Kashiram Awaas district in Balrampur (UP). She is 40 years old, has two daughters and three boys and belongs to a poor labour class. For many years, she has been facing impaired vision in both eyes, which as a result has impacted her day to day life not to mention the frequent headaches and nausea that she experiences daily. She finds it difficult to thread a needle and she can usually see black spots during the day time. What made matters worse was that the local centres did not measure her vision and she has been wearing the same spectacles for more than seven years now.
The nearby village had informed her about the free eye camp where her vision was tested and suitable spectacles were provided along with eye drops. Shyam Kumari has high hopes that after the camp she would be able to return to her normal life.
