Timely consultation is very important however this goes neglected either due to sheer ignorance or because people do not have the money to go consult an optician or an Opthamologist.

Short and long sightedness
Conditions like short sightedness (myopia) and long sightedness (hypermetropia) can be overcome by wearing glasses. Both of these conditions are usually caused when the cornea and lens do not focus properly on the retina. While a short-sighted person’s near vision may be clear, but distant objects appear to be blurred. A long-sighted person’s distant vision is clear, but objects nearby appear out of focus. This usually happens when the eyeball is too short or the lens too thin, causing the image to focus behind the retina.
